1/4" Lock-Open Pop Pin - Leaves both hands free to make adjustments

This pin is a miniature version of our 1/2" and 3/8" Lock-Open Pop Pins for use in lighter duty applications. This smaller, scaled down version does not use a weld-on bulk head tube. Rather, the application will require an M12-1.5 Metric female threaded opening that will received the entire pop pin assembly. Each pop pin includes an M12-1.5 Jam Nut that may be used to lock the mounting location of the pop pin assembly at various depths.

Simply pull on the knob to disengage spring-loaded pin Then, unlike conventional pop pins, the knob may be twisted a few degrees either clockwise or counter clockwise to keep pin locked out. This allows the user to let go of the knob and use both hands to maneuver the adjustment. To lock pin, simply rotate knob until the spring-loaded pin snaps back into locked position.

Lock-open pins are an excellent choice for any application where an extended lock-out time is ideal. Example applications include fitness equipment adjustment mechanisms, custom gates and doors, security applications, storage cabinets and tool boxes. Another great use for lock-open pins is in applications with heavy or unwieldy adjustments that are hard to manage while using just one hand.

Lock-open pop pins allow the design freedom to develop applications that use 2 or more pins that may be adjusted by a single person. For example, a locking door that incorporates 4 lock-open pins where a single user may lock out each pop pin, one at a time, to disengage the door.

Spring-loaded pop pin works like other pop pins except the knob will twist to lock the engagement pin to the open position (see inset photos within main photo to see both locked and lock out positions) tightens

Mounting this pin will require an M12-1.5 Metric Female thread to screw into.

Included with each pop pin is an M12-1.5 Jam Nut that is .263" thick

The .818" outside diameter knob is serrated around the outer edge to aid the grip.

The knob is bonded to pin body so it won't loosen while twisting clockwise or counter clockwise

The entire pop pin assembly is finished in black oxide and may be painted or powder coated, or left as is.

The outside diameter of the engagement portion of pin is 1/4" nominal/ .235" actual measured

In the locked position, the exposed (penetrative) length of the engagement pin is 5/16" nominal/ .314" actual measured

In the locked-open position, the exposed (penetrative) length of the engagement pin is 1/16" nominal/ .053" actual measured

The tip of the engagement pin is half-round

Depending on the application, the exposed (penetrative) length of the engagement pin may be shortened if needed for the application.

The screw-in pop pin internal assembly has built in hexagonal flats so a 14mm open end wrench may be used to tighten the assembly into the M12-1.5 female thread. The included jam nut requires a 19mm open end wrench.
