3/4" Rubber Guide Rod Dampeners - Stops the Noisy Rattle
Product Description
3/4" Rubber Guide Rod Dampeners - Stops the Noisy Rattle
Typically, guide rods are installed thru holes drilled through the upper frame member. The rod passes through the weight stack and holstered into another set of holes drilled into the lower frame member. A shaft collar locks the rod in place. The holes in the frame must be larger than the guide rod outside diameter in order to facilitate installation - usually 1/16" to 1/8" larger than the outside diameter of the rod. The resulting gap between the guide rod and holes will allow the guide rod to move from side-to-side while the machine is in use thus, creating an annoying rattle.
Our rubber guide rod dampeners are installed between the shaft collar and upper frame member as shown in the photo above. The shaft collar is pressed into the rubber dampener ring while simultaneously locking the collar set screw, which exerts a constant pressure between the collar and frame after installation. This prevents the guide rod from rattling for quieter operation.
